Women Entrepreneurs ? Doing Business in a Feminine Way

Supporting entrepreneurial women is my passion. With that in mind I wrote this article for female/women entrepreneurs only, so I could focus and celebrate the feminine way of doing business. I’m eager to share with you communities that support doing business in a feminine way.

This is an important subject since women are starting businesses at nearly 3 times the rate of men. Currently there are 11million women owned businesses in the US. What’s motivating women to start their own businesses? According to a survey by Ladies Who Launch, women launch a new business for the following reasons:

To have more FREEDOM and CONTROL over their schedules and LIVES. To pursue their PASSION and DREAMS. To create REVENUE and MAKE MONEY doing what they love.

The specific motives are unique to every woman yet they reflect a pattern. Women want their business to fit in with the rest of their priorities and values in life.

The Feminine Approach to Launching a Business

Women generally rely on a more intuitive approach to starting their businesses. In order to get started, women need to feel the creative juices flowing and then have the freedom to act on their ideas. Ladies Who Launch is the first online and in-person platform to recognize and cater their program (for female/women entrepreneurs only) to the uniquely feminine approach to launching.

The Feminine Approach to Running a Business

Women tend to be collaborators and prefer not to go it alone. This can be a tremendous advantage because they’re always on the lookout for help to get their business off the ground more quickly. Most women don’t have a problem admitting that they’re not sure how to proceed and will ask for direction. Their businesses benefit as a result.

At whatever stage their business is at, entrepreneurial women are always looking for:

Inspiration – Women are inspired when they see and learn from other women who have great ideas, a broader, more creative perspective and who are already achieving the kind of lifestyle they visualize for themselves. Learning from other successful entrepreneurs gives women a sense of who’s doing what in business and if she can do it, I can do it!

 

Resources - Women want training and coaching from business experts on the latest business strategies. They also want advice on how to create balance and a high-quality personal life.

 

Community – Women crave a like-minded community of women for a daily dose of wisdom, support and guidance.

Women need a venue to get the inspiration, resources and sense of community they crave. A few years ago I began hosting a monthly “Great Women’s Gathering” in my home. These few joyful hours of unstructured sharing are tremendously valuable for everyone in attendance. It gives us a chance to connect, gather together and learn from one another in a completely supportive environment. Consider starting your own group as a way to reach out to women in your community.

I launched Metromom.com and created The Metromom Entrepreneurs Association for female/women entrepreneurs only. This online community helps metromoms-entrepreneurial moms in home-based businesses-find all the business support and business supporters they need to be successful. I wholeheartedly believe there’s plenty of room for every woman to shine in all that she does-and this quality of abundance is a very important way to celebrate the feminine way of doing business.

Women Balancing Work and Life

Today’s woman is not merely a housewife, she is now more independent and career oriented. For this she has to maintain the work/life balance, which is tough but not impossible.

For maintaining proper balance between her professional and personal life she needs proper planning and strategy. The ways by which she can execute your essential activities properly are-

List the appropriate methods that you must execute to stay fit and healthy, like exercise, sleep, meditation, prayer etc. Investigate the reason for which you are stuck in busyness and ask your friend to look out for what you have missed out. 

Treat these functions equally as your work because in absence of them you will not be able to complete out your functions/duties properly. So, do not ever treat them as optional or extras.

Further consider those activities that boost your energy and as important as changing oil in your car. Honestly take proper intervals for executing these activities. Make a schedule for them in your calendar and stick to your commitments. For example- visit to the dentist or having a refreshing massage in massage parlor.

Think about the items that are as essential as cleaning of house like visit to parlor for pedicure, having a haircut and few hours in hot tub. They are refreshing activities that enable you to forget all your tensions.

But what are the strategies that you can adopt for maintaining the work/life balance.  The strategies that you can adopt even at home to fulfill your needs without affecting the work performance are-

The first formula for maintaining work/life balance is to avoid being panic. Firing your employee, replace the old system or getting divorce is easy is not an effective solutions at this time. Instead seek advice from an expert and act accordingly.
Meditation- meditation will connect you with your source and in turn eases your tension.

Self evaluation- Analyze your energy level and capabilities to perform well in every sphere of life. If you feel they are not up to mark then have professional evaluation and take actions accordingly for well being restoration.

Do not execute the functions as per others guidance and do not follow others’ lifestyle. 

Have good people company- Enjoy company of those people who have good and healthy habits. It is because healthy lifestyle reflect positive attitude towards life. 

Managing your thinking- when we mange the positive and constructive thinking every time, this will reflect on our mood and will motivate us for further creativity in the work area.

Fix healthy and flexible boundaries- life and business may be connected but do not sacrifice your privacy. Fix real and flexible boundaries for both of them.

Create or use refine systems for your work- Generate good system for managing real life and real business.

Make an aim and frame plan to achieve it.  Keep up-to-date your plan and make changes into commitments and offers to match present activity with available resources.

These points will work well to get your life and work aligns with each other.

Healthy Lifestyles, Science – How To Enjoy Bliss As We Age

Healthy lifestyles in all aspects of our lives are essential to arriving in your later years, as I am now at 68, that if so you well understand that you can remember muh farther back than you have time forward.


My father and grand father both lived to 93. I live much more healthy lifestyles than they did, but who knows. But in theory then I am now down under ten thousand days left alive to enjoy my family and friends and to still make worthwhile contributions to life, as we all desire.


And to keep active and make good use of however many days we have left on earth alive, we can pretty much measure based on our lifestyles and our own family life history. I will give a personal example for myself, with no promise from God that he could stop me tomorrow from looking the wrong way as I step into an oncoming bus. If so, hello, St. Peter.


Or, if I or you have been naughty and not nice, fools us, we not only had a miserable life, but to believe what we were taught in Sunday School, bad people live forever in hell, as they did of the hell they kept creating on earth. There is a wiser way, and yes, it is what we learned in Sunday school or kindergarten, until we outgrew that nonsense and went out and toughened up and bit back better than we got.


Not as smart as we thought. In fact, pushing your way up and in causes you internal anguish somehow enough that shortens the life of you the bully, and sweet angel of mercy at the next desk lives on serenely loved by all. Curse her, she will ask for your forgiveness.

Who is sneering, wearing red with a pointy stick and horns, who smiles like the good fairy from the west.


Well, women seem to master these elemental truths more naturally, and if we men see any girlie man prancing around performing these wonderful eight actions daily, you know we guy guys who will die early privately call him Betsy.


Well gents, let us consider that marriage has softened even Arnold, so let us put him in performing each of these acts so you chaps afraid your manly mask be torn off, you are both The Arnold and Cary Grant. And you do these acts dressed as Cary, or if you can suck it up and beef up, the Arnold.


Cary with a Fred Astaire hat would allow you, on your first day, to be an English Count. As in the popular children’s show, you love to Count your blessings. So you do that, with a fancy English cane if Cary will loan you his.If not, buy a good one, it will come in handy with the next mugger.

Be honest and humble with her on her magical transforming of the mess you all make to picture perfect in the morning. By now, those who were moaning at you earlier will likely lead a rare and memorable applause for Annie the Cleaning Lady.


She will hum all her shift and show that rose to her family, and so will your heart to you. That is the first of the eight, we have run out of time, lights out, make sure the camp fire is put out. We will obviously have to make this part of the series that help you imprint your bliss. First, what do we do? We Count our blessing, my Lord.

Health: Is Your Lifestyle Killing You?

How are you treating your body?

In writing this article for you, I also want to talk to me. A former bodybuilder and triathlon competitor, I am currently 20 lbs. overweight. The fact that I have a technologist diploma in nutrition and genetics makes my current health condition embarrassing. Health care is quickly becoming the number one concern in the Western world. Today our life expectancy is higher than ever; the average lifespan for men and women exceeds 70 years. People are now looking at the quality of their life as equal to or more important than the length of their life. As the baby boomers reach retirement age, they are expecting an active lifestyle — not the past stereo-typical “doing nothing” view of retirement. In fact, most retirees want the option of becoming more physically and mentally active than they were during their working career. In addition, our achievement of longer life has created unanticipated fallout in the economic models on which developed countries operate. Already several countries are raising their retirement age from the average age of 65. Why? They can’t support their population for the 20 extra years that many of them are going to live. Those of you who are younger and who will not be financially independent at retirement should expect to work much later. Age 70+ will become the new retirement norm. Modern society has not only helped us live longer, it has contributed to increasing our stress levels. In a recent survey by Northwestern Life, over 40% of workers reported their jobs to be “very or extremely stressful.” Heart disease and cancer ? two of the primary disease killers in North America ? are more rampant than ever, as are pollution, damaging lifestyle choices, and poor diet. What do we do about living longer in good health?

1. Take responsibility for your own health condition. Blaming others will not improve your health and it might increase your stress levels.
2. Establish your current health condition. Many of us take better care of our automobiles than we do ourselves. When was the last time you had a maintenance check-up? Have an annual physical check-up.
3. Another option is to complete a stress related self assessment. It can serve as a useful starting point to assist you in assessing your stress and health practices in five areas.

• Physical Health: Physical, Psychological, and Behavioral Symptoms
• Interpersonal Stress Factors
• Wellness Practices
• Nutritional Practices
• Occupational Stress
4. Think preventative wellness and nutritional balance, not drugs and medicine. Unfortunately, the majority of medical practitioners are trained to treat, not help prevent conditions. Medical training includes very little instruction on the nutritional effects on the human body. My many doctor friends agree that more must be done to include the preventative mindset in the medical community.

After my father almost died of a heart attack, the doctors put him on a low-fat, high-carb diet. The results of this approach increased his risk factors. After switching to a low-carb diet, he now is in better shape than he was 20 years ago

. 5. Set-up a plan that will work for you and your life conditions and preferences. Be realistic.
6. Take action. This is one area where just thinking about it will not help us achieve the wellness levels we all want.

Health and safety losses cost billions each year in lost productivity and related expenses, not to mention the intangible personal costs. You have seen on the news where seemingly perfectly fit joggers die while running. Wellness issues apply to more than overweight and inactive individuals. Environmental stress is global; it does not restrict its effects to certain groups. Our lifestyle choices are contributing to our health and wellness condition.

Health and wellness are your responsibility. After all, you will have to live with yourself for the rest of your life. The following action steps are designed to help you increase your overall health.

1. Take responsibility for your health and wellness.
2. Determine the ideal health and wellness condition for you. Document the differences between your current lifestyle and your new plan so that you have health goals to shoot for.
3. Establish your current health and wellness levels by completing an assessment that targets health and stress levels.
4. Acknowledge your current condition before embarking on an improvement plan. If I decided to run a marathon next week, you would surely be reading about my untimely demise.
5. If you have not done so, have an annual check-up to benchmark your medical condition.
6. Be holistic in your wellness plan. Map your improvements in all areas: nutrition, wellness, interpersonal, occupational, and physical. Physical activity must be part of your plan. Recent research proves how your overall health and cognitive abilities improve by simply walking 25,000 steps a week.
7. Make your plan a challenge. Make it fun. Be creative. If time is an issue, plan activities that combine healthy pursuits with important relationships.
8. Nutrition will play a critical part in your long-term success; it must be included in your wellness plan. 9. Start from where you are. Now.
