Pierce-ear Problem
Q= my earring holes have stretched a lot over time. Is sewing them up a big deal? And will I still be able to wear pierced earrings?

A= “The procedure is simple,” says Lawrence Moy, M.D. The doctor (dermatologist or a plastic surgeon) gives you a local anesthetic and sews up the hole within minutes. “After two months, if you can still see s line, two laser zaps will smooth it out,” says Dr. Moy. But to minimize the cost, you can safely repierce in three or four months.

Lens Care Lesson

Q= My eye doctor says I should remove and clean my extended-wear contacts every night. Is it okay to keep them in longer?
A= Even though extended-wear lenses were originally designed to be worn continously for up to two week, some eye doctors now believe it`s unsafe to leave them in overnight.Wearing lenses overnight can increase the risk of eye infection, chich can lead corneal ulcers and other serious problems.

The official recommendation of both the Food and Drug Administration and the American Academy of Opthalmology is that extended-wear lenses be removed and cleaned at least once a week. But nightly removal and cleaning certainly gives you the best chance to keeping your eyes healthy.
